Harvey Road teachers and Learning Support Assistants have taken part in a Literacy project focusing on supporting children’s phonic learning through a programme developed by the ‘Dyslexia Trust’.
The project was set up to raise awareness of struggling readers, identify specific difficulties, implement numerous strategies to support reading and review the impact. Staff have received training and are able to identify and apply techniques and strategies to use within the classroom. When reading one to one with a child, staff are now more able to scaffold the child’s reading progress which provides very exciting learning opportunities within the school.
Harvey Road completed the project and were awarded the ‘SPLD’ mark in recognition of our efforts and success. These techniques are now being applied consistently across the school to continually support the needs of our your readers.
